Sculpture
Bronze, Clay, Plaster, Resin, Mixed Media
To me, sculpture is the most enticing form of visual art. Even the simplest form can be captivating and inspiring. It's hard to resist the desire to touch it. I create monumental sculpture, smaller intimate pieces and decorative bas reliefs. I work in realism, expressionism and a whole host of classic and contemporary styles. Sculpture can be used in countless approaches from stand alone pieces to applications for walls and ceilings to bring texture and depth to any space. Sculpture makes a statement like no other art form.
A little about the process:
Works are meticulously hand sculpted or carved using clay, plaster, resin or rigid foam to produce the master/original. A rubber or silicone liquid is applied to the master to capture detail in a flexible mold. The mother mold, made of plaster or fiberglass is then applied in layers over the mold to add rigidity and support. From here the process varies depending upon the desired finished cast - plaster, resin, bronze or other metals and materials. Plaster, resin and some low melting point metals can be poured directly into the flexible mold while other metals require the lost wax process. Regardless of cast material, the final cast is an exact reproduction of the master.
